Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Dzulkifli Abdul Razak

The Japanese Case

Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Dzulkifli Abdul Razak is a prominent Malaysian academic and thought leader in higher education. He currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) and Emeritus Professor at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). Formerly the 6th Rector of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), he is well known for pioneering the concept of Sejahtera—a holistic, values-based approach to education rooted in indigenous wisdom.
With a distinguished career that includes serving as Vice Chancellor of USM and founding Vice Chancellor of Albukhary International University, Professor Dzulkifli has also held key international roles, including President of the International Association of Universities (IAU), under the auspices of UNESCO.
A recipient of numerous prestigious awards, he was conferred the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon by the Emperor of Japan in 2019 and the Gilbert Medal by Universitas 21 for global higher education leadership. He was also named Tokoh Akademik Negara in 2017 and has received multiple honorary doctorates from international institutions.
A prolific writer and public intellectual, Professor Dzulkifli has authored over 20 books and more than 1,000 articles, actively shaping discourse on education, sustainability, and human development. His lifelong dedication to academia continues to inspire educational reform both in Malaysia and around the world.

Assistant Professor Lanie V. Garcia
Polytechnic University of the Philippines
Assistant Professor Lanie V. Garcia is a seasoned Japanese language educator at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) in Manila. With over a decade of teaching experience, she has significantly contributed to Japanese language education in the Philippines. Prof. Garcia holds a Master’s degree and is a Licensed Professional Teacher. Her professional journey includes advanced language training at the Japan Foundation Language Institute in Urawa and a three-year tenure as a trainee at Nitto Denko in Kameyama, Mie Prefecture, Japan. Beyond her academic role, she leads the LVG Language Tutorial Center, extending her commitment to language education and cultural exchange.

Prof. Dr. Djodjok Soepardjo

Professor Dr. Djodjok Soepardjo is a leading figure in Japanese language education at Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA), where he has served since 1982. He currently holds the position of President of the Indonesian Association of Japanese Language Education Studies (ASPBJI), playing a key role in advancing the field nationwide.With extensive experience in teaching, research, and curriculum development, Professor Soepardjo has made significant contributions to Japanese language pedagogy and cross-cultural communication in Indonesia. As the founder and director of the International Multicultural (I'Mc) Center, he has also expanded access to language education across diverse communities.In recognition of his lifelong dedication and impact, he was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon by the Government of Japan in 2023.

Cao Le Dung Chi KHOA NHAT is a respected educator in Japanese language education at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Education. With a strong background in teaching and curriculum development, she has actively contributed to enhancing the quality of Japanese language instruction in Vietnam. She is involved in various academic collaborations and regional initiatives that promote language education and cross-cultural understanding. Her work reflects a commitment to advancing pedagogical practices in Japanese language education.

Her leadership extends to organizing international forums, spearheading research collaborations, and pioneering initiatives tailored to Japanese language instruction in Islamic institutions.
